105 Chalker Beach Road
Old Saybrook, CT

Chalker Beach is home to a dense beach community with each property dealing with a small size and high ground water proving very constricting to the installation of a septic system. It was inevitable that the GST system was to be much higher in elevation than the septic tank. And due to the high ground water in the area, sump pumps were used to bring down the ground water level temporarily, and were removed after two 1000 gallon tanks (septic and pump chamber) were set. The immense strength and pressure of ground water joined with the high surface area and hollow characteristics of a septic tank posed a flotation problem. As a solution, 4-5 yards of concrete and rebar reinforcements (built into tanks) were added to keep the structures in a fixed position.
